At ISE, NEC Display Solutions Europe showcased the broadest collection of display products and solution portfolios ever, highlighting more than a decade of innovation and development. We spoke to Simon Jackson, VP for NEC Display Solutions who told us the stand especially showed off NEC’s vertical focus programme.

The company targets at least 16 verticals and provides dedicated resources, including building an ecosystem and aligning solution partners. “We go out to end users and generate our own demand to bring back to our channel who we need for their ability to add value,” says Jackson.

This year's stand includes the PIXEL MACHINE – a giant videowall made up of 23 55-inch large format displays run by Hiperwall – and a live demo of VUKUNET – the recently launched automated ad serving platform for the DOOH Industry. (We’ll have an article about VUKUNET at ISE 2013 in our next issue.)

NEC Display Solutions offered a wide range of new interactive and collaborative solutions for digital signage, classrooms and rental and signage applications, in particular:

  • Rental & Staging(a two-projector stacking combination for achieving highest brightness and the new PH1400U projector in stacking setup providing 27,000 lumens)
  • Transportation & Aviation (you could see how NEC helps airports rethink the way they communicate with passengers)
  • Energy & Utility ( displays that provide optimum performance for monitoring distribution and production 24/7)
  • Retail (how NEC partners with retail stores and brands using large format displays to deliver dynamic retail applications, and how to secure colour accuracy. On show were also the new 10mm LED modules)
  • Quick Service Restaurants (orderfrom digital menu boards that help fast food outlets stay in touch with today's demanding public)
  • Corporate Office (you could see the modern collaborative office highlighted in the NEC MultiSync EA294WMi, which features a very thin 29” 21:9 IPS LED backlight panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1080-- an ultra-modern and slim design with MHL to connect your smartphone directly to the display. There was also the new 3D ready PE401H compact, 4000 ANSI lumens, Full HD meeting room projector with 1.7x optical zoom and optional adapter for Intel® WiDi.)
  • Leisure & Museums (NEC showcased a 3D rear projection screen that provides an interactive signage solution).
  • Education (NEC is enabling collaborative learning in schools. On show were live demos of DisplayNote, the latest interactive whiteboard tablet solution for sharing content among all connected devices. DisplayNote supports various devices and operating systems and so it’s also a BYOD (bring your own device solution).

There was even more on NEC’s 450 square meters at ISE including professional installation projectors, desktop displays, mounts, software applications and demos displaying NEC's expertise in areas such as OPS based Slot-in Options and context aware signage installations based on the sensor related middleware Leaf Engine.
