Mitsubishi Electric’s MDT701S

Mitsubishi Electric’s MDT701S will make its European debut at ISE 2013.

The flagship 70” edge-lit LED display is the largest professional LCD monitor ever offered by Mitsubishi, suited for public display or corporate settings.

Its LED illumination means reduced power consumption and slimmer profile, while delivering a 5000:1 contrast ratio and increased colour gamut. Lifespan is also increased and LEDs create less environmental impact at end of life.

Versatility is a key feature of the MDT701S: the maker cites ”quick and easy deployment in any application.” An Open Pluggable Standard (OPS) slot allows it to be used with a large number of vendor add-ins, such as single-board PC’s, 3G and SDI cards (which make it well-suited to digital signage networks).

The MDT701S also features a built-in plug ‘n’ play USB hub that allows up to five USB hubs to be cascaded to a maximum of 16 USB inputs. MDT701S also supports LAN connections and is compatible with AMX Device Discovery and Crestron Roomview enabling it to be monitored, managed and controlled across the network or from web-enabled Apple iPhone, iPad or Android devices via Crestron’s Fusion RV software.

Barco Warp Box for its 4K Virtual Reality Projectors

MCM-40

Barco introduces the MCM-400, an external warping, blending and color matching device for the Galaxy 4K projector line. This hardware component opens a range of new opportunities for Barco’s Galaxy 4K series projectors for virtual reality systems, including use in a multi-channel setup to allow very high resolution displays with a limited number of projectors.

Barco’s Galaxy 4K projector family has been specifically designed to allow high-resolution powerwalls and caves by means of a single projector. However, some applications still need larger display sizes with multiple projectors. The MCM-400 adds this functionality to Barco’s 4K VR projectors by offering features such as warping, electronic blending, and advanced color correction between different screens in the same application.

So the MCM-400 makes Barco’s 4K projector series suitable for use in larger collaboration rooms (both flat and curved), 3D visualization, and high-resolution command and control displays.

“The MCM-400 has been designed for maximum stability,” says Stefan Vandemaele, Product Manager Virtual Reality at Barco. “This means there is no computer, operating system or graphic card driver involved to complicate matters: the MCM-400 is designed specifically to deliver the highest possible quality of warping, blending and color matching. What’s more, with four dual-link DVI-D inputs, the 4K sources can be connected in four quadrants of 2048 by 1080 pixels. This allows previewing on standard HD monitors, greatly simplifying the process. The introduction of the MCM-400 expands the applicability of the Galaxy 4K projectors in VR systems significantly.”

dnp Intros Ultra-thin, Frameless Supernova Blade

Supernova Blade

dnp denmark announces the worldwide introduction of the *Supernova Blade”, an ultra-thin frameless version of their Supernova Screen.

To meet modern demands for wider, flatter screens, the dnp Supernova Blade is only 3mm thick and available in 100”, 110” and 120” displays (in 16: 9 aspect ratio). Yet it contains the performance characteristics typical of a Supernova Screen.

A built-in optical filter in the screen’s material absorbs ambient light and boosts image contrast, delivering up to 7X higher contrast than conventional front projection screens. These light-absorbing capabilities eliminate the need for a dedicated darkened room, making it suitable for use in brightly lit surroundings such as meeting rooms and point of sales situations as well as home theatre.

The new screen, which uses ISF-certified Supernova 08-85 screen material, can be installed in two ways: either wall-mounted — when it gives the effect of a ‘window on the world’ — or suspended from the ceiling, when it appears to be floating in mid-air. In retail situations, where every square meter counts, the new slim-line screen also helps save space.

AUO Reveals 65" 4K2K IGZO TV Panel Technology

  • PDF

AUO

Sharp is not the only company using indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO) technology-- AU Optronics reveals a 65” IGZO panel with 4K (3840x2160) resolution.

AUO also claims the thinner, lighter panel offers higher light transmittance, meaning lower power consumptions than the 84-inch giants making up most of the 4K TV segment.

IGZO technology is an oxide semiconductor with a cocktail of indium (In), gallium (Ga) and zinc (Zn). Each pixel in an LCD screen is controlled by its own transistor and IGZO creates several favorable characteristics over the amorphous silicon used in today's LCD panels.

The company also has other, smaller TV offerings-- the 55-inch 4K panel with Wide Colour Gamut (WCG) technology and the 1080p 50-inch FIM (Fully Integrated Module) with a super-slim 3.5mm bezel.
