Christie Twist™ 4K

Meeting the growing demand for 4K projection outside of cinema applications, Christie® announced the official launch of Christie Twist™ 4K at IBC.

Designed for Christie 4K, 3-chip DLP projectors used in business applications, Christie Twist 4K enables the warping, blending and colour matching of multi-projector displays in large-screen, fixed installation applications including amusement parks, automotive designs, museums and planetariums that require exceptionally large images in a multi-channel (tiled) format.

Christie Twist 4K creates uniform, tiled images with superior colour consistency across the entire display when using several projectors and is on display at the Christie booth with the new Christie D4K25, 25,000 lumen projector.

“Whether it’s a flat or curved surface, with Christie Twist 4K, ProAV professionals can now blend and colour match images from multiple 4K projectors – easily creating large, ultra-high resolution canvasses that will amaze audiences like never before,” says George Tsintzouras, senior director, product management for Business Products, Christie.

World's First 1080p Hybrid LED-Laser Projector

Acer K750

Acer says the K750 is the world's first 1080p projector equipped with a hybrid laser-LED light technology.

The K750 projector uses both LED and laser light sources that are free of hazardous substances like mercury or halogen gases – yet they significantly improve color brightness when compared to high-pressure mercury lamps. This technology also increases the light-source lifetime to 20,000 hours in Extreme ECO mode and enables, says Acer, as much as 90% power savings (helping to reduce TCO and probably making the K750 one of the most environmental friendly projectors).

With a brightness of up to 1500 lumens and a contrast ratio up to 100,000:1, this hybrid light-source technology enables flexible color settings and a wider color gamut to deliver color saturation up to 85% NTSC and offers color fidelity through a system of three independent color lighting sources.

In order to empower usability, the K750 features instant on/off capability, which means no cool-down period is needed after turning the projector off.

Datavideo Ships Tiny HD-SDI Repeaters

Datavideo

Datavideo's new VP-633 and VP-634 HD-SDI repeaters and cable extenders make copper cable a cost effective solution for sending HD-SDI signals at least 600 meters.

Here's how it works: HD-SDI is not a bi-directional format the same way that Firewire is, so you can put the first and only powered repeater close to the recorder or switcher.

This is the only one that requires a 12VDC power supply. Every 100 meters from that first repeater, they add another repeater until the video source is 100 meters or less from the last repeater.

Touchez

The National Basketball Association (NBA) had a special treat for its fans during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. For 10 intense days, the Jubilee Hall gym, located in the heart of Covent Garden, became the NBA House.

Over 53,000 fans visited the NBA House in person and millions of supporters followed it online. The unique brand experience, created by Ignite-London, gave guests the chance to meet their basketball idols; try their hand at basketball and other interactive games; and talk to other fans and stars using Cisco Telepresence. It also included a shop, a Playstation Vita area and a VIP area.

But the NBA House also harnessed the power of social media, thanks to an interactive social media wall developed by Touchez.

Darrell McLennan-Fordyce, senior director of marketing communications EMEA says: “We embrace new media all the time. Communicating with our fans is essential for us and social media gives us the right platform to do so.

“The NBA was founded back in 1946 in North America. Now with fans all over the world we are always looking for new ways to connect. Currently we have over 5 million followers on Twitter. Touchez’s social media video wall allows us to showcase how big our conversation is.”

Sharp Shows Prototypes of IGZO, First Time in Europe

  • PDF

Sharp’s IGZO

For the first time in Europe, Sharp showed prototypes of its newly developed oxide semiconductor technology, known as IGZO. At IFA Berlin, Sharp showed how IGZO technology will enable even higher resolutions, lower power consumption, and higher performance touch screens, as well as narrower bezel widths for LCD display panels used in mobile devices such as smartphones.

This jointly developed new IGZO technology is an oxide semiconductor with a cocktail of indium (In), gallium (Ga) and zinc (Zn). Each pixel in an LCD screen is controlled by its own transistor and IGZO creates several favorable characteristics over the amorphous silicon used in today's LCD panels.

One prototype 6.1” screen on show at IFA squeezed in 2560 pixels by 1600 pixels, or 498 pixels per inch. Or 50% increase on the 326ppi screen used in Apple's iPhone 4S and roughly double that of the new iPad. The difference is clearly visible so it’s time to buy Sharp stock again.
